FEBRUARY 2008 NEWSLETTER

Dear PDO Parents,

Wow!  We can't believe it is already February.  The following letter will inform you of what is happening this month in our program.

Calendar of Events

February 4, 2008                                        February tuition is due this week.

February 18, 2008                                       President’s Day: No PDO

February Themes

The children will be learning that Jesus came to teach us about God’s love, and how to show our love by sharing, and helping others.  We will begin our unit learning how much Jesus loves us, continuing with how much Jesus wants us to love others, (Valentine’s Week) and finishing up with how much Jesus wants us to love him.

Valentine’s Week

Due to the fact that we have 70 children total attending PDO on different days it can become a confusing situation Valentine’s week.  Many of the children attend two or three days a week, and some one day a week.  We have found the following situation to be the best for the children as well as the most manageable for our teachers.

If your child would like to bring Valentines for his/her classmates that would be fine, but it is not required.  For those children who choose to bring Valentines for their friends, they may bring in thirteen Valentines if their day is Monday, Wednesday, or Friday morning.  If their day is Tuesday or Thursday the children may bring eight valentines.  On Monday and Friday afternoons the children may bring seven valentines for their classmates.  Please sign from and your child’s name.  We will make sure the children get their valentines in their backpacks.  We will not hand them directly to the students during class in case not all children bring in Valentines.  We want to avoid hurt feelings.  The PDO teachers have a special Valentine goody bag that each child will receive the week of February 14, 2008.

Indoor Play

Although the weather has been too cold to play outdoors, it is very important that young children use and develop their large gross motor skills.  During the cold weather we continue to develop our jumping, hopping, tossing, rolling and even dancing skills.  Our obstacle course consists of bowling games, bean bag toss, crawling through pop up tunnels, jumping in and out of hula hoops as well as, musical chairs and freeze dance.

Our animal aerobics was a big hit!

February Blessings, Songs and Finger plays

God is Great!

God is great.

God is good.

And we thank him for our food.

For Bunnies and Flowers

For bunnies and flowers and birds that sing

We thank you God for everything!

Hands

(Sung to the tune of “Are You Sleeping?”)

Tops and bottoms, tops and bottoms,

In between, in between,

All around your hands, all around your hands,

Now we’re clean, now we’re clean.

Jesus Loves Me

Jesus loves me, this I know,

For the Bible tells me so;

Little ones to Him belong

They are weak, but He is strong .

Chorus:

Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me,

Yes, Jesus loves me, The Bible tells me so.

Do You Know That God is Love?

(Sung to tune of “Do You Know the Muffin Man?”)

Do you know that God is love,

that God is love, that God is love?

Do you know that God is love,

and loves you all the time?

Be A Friend

(Sung to tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”)

Be, be, be a friend to everyone at school.

We learn, we play; we try each day to follow every rule!

Will You Be Mine?

(Sung to tune of “Clementine”)

February, February, time to make a valentine.

Will you send one, give a friend one?

I will be yours if you’ll be mine!

Wish List

We could use antibacterial wipes for tables and chairs as well as the large gallon size Ziploc baggies.  (Not the sandwich size)  Thank you!

Thank you!

Once again we thank you for your support and cooperation. You have been so generous with your donations.

Sincerely,

The PDO Staff,

Debbie Krueger, Karen Cassidy, and Heidi Wayland
