Blue Christmas/
Longest Night Worship
Wednesday, December 21st at 7 pm
While “jolly” and “merry” may sum up the Christmas season for most people, for many others it is a time of loneliness, sorrow, alienation, or sadness. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and celebrations painful for many people in our congregation and community. And yet we often feel pressured to have it all together and to hide our struggles to pretend we’re merry, when really we feel frustrated and stressed and exhausted. This Blue Christmas/ Longest Night Worship service offers a way for people to claim those darker feelings and still feel surrounded by the compassionate love of God. It will be a quiet, meditative gathering with scripture, music, prayer and candles." We welcome you to join us and to invite friends, neighbors, coworkers who might be feeling blue.
