An inclusive and accepting atmosphere
From its beginning, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church has been known as a friendly church. People of all ages and from all walks of life come and find an inclusive, accepting atmosphere where they grow in their Christian Faith, find support and care.
Good Shepherd United Methodist Church is an inviting neighborhood church family. Our purpose is to celebrate God's message in worship and in our daily lives; engage with our community through active and relevant service; equip our congregation for spiritual growth and expanding faith with emphasis on our young people.
Good Shepherd UMC is located in northwest Thornton at 3960 East 128th Avenue.
This is just west of Colorado Blvd on the south side of 128th Avenue.
Good Shepherd's parking lot surrounds the church on the east and south sides. Plenty of parking is available for all worship services.
What are Services Like?
Our 9:00 a.m. worship setting is built around contemporary praise and features our Praise choir. There is often media utilized like movie clips and worship videos and the music is keyboard based in style with band accompaniment. You will hear some of the more recent praise and worship music performed by our Ascent Praise Team while also enjoying some of the more classic songs as well. There is an order of worship and the atmosphere is designed to be relational and there is plenty of opportunity to be personally involved!
The 10:45 a.m. worship setting is our time of remembering our traditional heritage. Our Shepherd's Voice Choir leads us in hymns and once a month our Jubilation Bells will present wonderful hand bell pieces. Vestments are worn by the pastor and our piano is the centerpiece for musical selections.
Our 10:45 a.m. worship is constructed around the United Methodist book of worship and is truly meant to be a moment of claiming our traditions and history.
You will see a variety of dress on a Sunday morning, but it is generally casual. Wear dressy clothes or jeans and a tee shirt, we just want to see you at worship. Whatever your preference, we are glad to have you visit us on Sunday!
