PAINT-A-THON

In 2013, Good Shepherd UMC began participating in the PAINT-A-THON, where we put together a team of volunteers that arrive at 8:00 in the morning at the home of one of our neighbors to paint the outside of their house, free of charge. These neighbors are unable to do the work themselves, due to disability, poverty, or both. Brothers Redevelopment, the lead agency for this event in partnership with the City of Thornton, accepts applications from those in need and then provides the paint and all the tools necessary for our team of volunteers to paint the entire exterior of the assigned house.  Lunch and water throughout the day is provided for all the volunteers. Take a look at the pictures from this 2019. Thornton Paint-A-Thon here on our website and you’ll see the tenderhearted volunteers who worked hard, had fun, and lived into what it means to love our neighbor. Sign ups for the Paint-A-Thon begin in June about a month in advance of the painting project.  For more information, contact Hervey Smith at herveysmith088@gmail.com Or Karen Zulauf at: kiz4051@gmail.com
