The youth participated in a series of group competitions and discussed the importance of being kind to others. Our teens talked about how seemingly small words can have a huge effect on people. We talked about standing up to people who spark fires or befriending those who have been hurt.

The teens were also able to compete in a team competition. It was the battle of boys vs. girls. After a close competition, the boys won 4-3.

YOUTH GROUP is open to 6th grade through 12th grade!!

November Activities:

1. On 11/7, the youth will be meeting at the church for a movie day! We will be meeting from 2:00-4:30 to watch the movie "I Still Believe". Snacks, drinks, and popcorn will be provided. Bring blankets/pillows to get cozy for our movie day! 11/7 is also All Saints Day, so we will be connecting the movie to this important day. Please let me know if you are able to attend.

2. For the month of November, we will be partnering with Food for Hope to help provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need. The church will be hosting a "competition" to raise money and in return, either Rev. Yo Han, Natalie, or myself will get a pie to the face. Here is how you can help:

  • $25 provides a Thanksgiving meal for a family of 4-6.

  • If you are able to donate, you will write a check out to Good Shepherd UMC and write 'food for hope' in the memo line. At the end of the month, the church will write one big check to give to Food for Hope.

  • Cash is also accepted. You can either donate $25 in cash OR donate what you can (if that means $5, great! It all still goes toward helping others).

  • You will place your check into a jar with my name, Natalie's name, or Rev. Yo Han's name. Place your money in the jar of the person you want to see pied the most!

  • At the end of the month, the person with the most money in their jar will be pied! This date is TBD, but I will keep you updated!

If you have any questions about the above information, please let me know. I hope to see you all at our upcoming events!
